History of Bhabikal

Bhabikal
Bhabikal came into existence on 24th May, 1984 in Silchar at the initiative of some theatre lovers and performing artists of Barak valley in Southern Assam. Registered under societies act XXI of 1960, Bhabikal over the years has successfully established itself as one of the prominent socio-cultural in Assam and Northeast India. With an objective to attract young talents towards drama, the group have been innovating ways to use drama as true mirror of society. It also embarks upon creating a platform other folk and other performing arts through the use of local dialect and surge for united voice against all ills that afflicts the society.
Bhabikal for the last three years in collaboration with National School of Drama by motivating new young talents of the Barak Valley for theatre through various workshops and regular classes through its another wing Kala Academy, where various distinguished theatre personalities of Silchar share their experiences with the students of Kala Academy.
Bhabikal Wings:

§  Work with children/ student of slum areas.
§  Organizing drama festival.
§  Conducting drama workshop in collaboration with NSD.
§  Organizing Drama Seminar.
§  Organizing Cultural programme and various cultural competitions.
§  Publication of Cultural Magazine, Bulletin.  
§  Organizing Merit Test (School Level) Competitions.
